Bigdog -- Top Sales Person or Prelude To A Terminator?

With the season finale of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and the closure of Battlestar Galactica, it seems that our televised fascination with cybernetic organisms and robotic automatons has come to a close.

Or maybe not!

While the events of Terminator Salvation won’t happen until 2018, which really isn’t that far off, it appears that we have the beginnings of a Terminator in the works today.

With the blessings of DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), Boston Dynamics has been developing the beginnings of what appears to be a quadripedal tank.

OK, so they are saying that it’s main purpose is to go through rough terrain with troops and to carry their equipment, a sort of robotic pack mule. And I can imagine that there are peacetime applications for this type of tech. But really, how long do you think it will be before somebody outfits this thing with a remote control, additional armor and a gun turret?

Next step, T-888.

And you thought we only had BigDogs in sales.
